• The winners of Make Me A Scientist 2011 are The Pyrotechnics from St Margaret's Academy!
Make Me A Scientist! - 12th October 2011 - was a one-night only studio-based science competition, with preceding auditions, in the style of popular reality television shows like X Factor (ITV) and Britain's Got Talent (ITV).
The main challenge was to produce a unique demonstration of science in every day life - there was also a science quiz and a memory challenge. There was an expert panel of judges to give feedback on the demonstration AND a LIVE audience who voted for their favourite team!
The Pyrotechnics demonstration involved how different metals are used in fireworks. The demo received excellent feedback from the expert judges as well as the most audience votes. Well done to The Clones who also did extremely well and conducted a fantastic demonstration on futuristic human cloning!
The top prize for the winning school was £500 Waterstones vouchers and Waitrose/John Lewis vouchers! The Pyrotechnics received an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the Royal Observatory Edinburgh along with: Vue cinema vouchers, Pizza Express pizza making party, Starbucks coffee cards, and iTunes cards.
